Katherine Jenkins - Katherine Jenkins Loses Dresses On Flight

Opera star Katherine Jenkins suffered a nightmare journey to South America earlier this week (begs11Jul11) - her first flight was cancelled and then her elaborate stage prom dresses went missing in a baggage mix-up.

The Welsh singer kicks off a tour of the region this weekend (16-17Jul11), starting with a planned show at the Coliseo Theatre in Argentina on Saturday (16Jul11).

Very Vickers: Diana launches her second collection of Mad Men-inspired clothes

Diana Vickers may have only reached the semi-final of The X Factor in 2008, but she has since shown she can go the distance.
cheap wedding dresses
The 19-year-old from Blackburn has had a number one single, won a Theatregoers' Choice Award for her performance in the West End's Little Voice, bagged Emma Watson's ex and created a best-selling range of dresses for Very.co.uk.
But there's no stopping her. In between recording her second album, the multi-tasker has just launched her second collection for the brand - and the designs are guaranteed to be just as successful as her cute-as-a-button previous efforts.
Diana launched her first collection, Dee V, in May and it sold so well she is already modelling her next selection of girlie dresses.
Again, the collection is inspired by the fashionable TV series Man Med - however, the pastels of her spring time collection have largely been replaced by a strong palette that is both brighter and more similar to Peggy, Joan and Betty's autumnal tones.
There are a couple of minor misses in the collection. Even Diana cannot pull off the twee purple sequin pocket dress (£49). But we covet her thick mustard-coloured coat (£89). As the singer says: 'This is a real statement piece and I love the fact that it looks fantastic belted or without.'
The collections stand-out pieces, though, are the bright mini dresses.
Dresses to wear to a wedding
Wearing a multi-coloured sequinned mini-dress (£99) with geometric patterns from the collection, Diana said: 'I absolutely love this, the colours are so striking - it's inspired by a vintage dress I own and it's great for parties!'.

The Weekend’s Best Dressed: Kate and Wills lead the Brit Parade!

Well, how faaabulous! prom dresses The glam culmination of Kate and Wills's Canadian and Californian tour was the BAFTA Brits to Watch dinner held at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge mingled with the royalty of Tinseltown, from Nicole Kidman to Blake Lively, but as the guests of honour and with a dramatic arrival including police motorcycles and squad cars, it was hard for the newlyweds not to steal the show. So were their fellow guests' gowns fit for a princess? Let's investigate...

Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen gown certainly aided her breath-taking entrance as she swooshed up the red carpet in flowing lilac chiffon topped off with bouncy Hollywood hair and accompanied by her be-tuxed hubby. Kate accessorised with earrings borrowed from the Queen, a Jimmy Choo clutch and glitter-finish heels. You'll remember Grazia Daily spotted the Duchess leaving MQueen's HQ in London earlier this month and Sarah Burton is becoming K-Midd’s go-to designer for official engagements since creating her resplendent wedding dress, and it's proving to be a fine match.

Hmm, has Blake Lively taken to covering up since that scandalous scandal? For here are her curvalicious credentials swathed in oodles of dove grey chiffon. Well, who'da thunk it?! Blake's one-shoulder gown covered in twinkling embroidery is from Marchesa's S/S ’11 collection, teamed with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Christian Louboutin heels and a new honey-blonde hair do. You like?

Aw, how we adooore Zooey Deschanel! The kooky actress-slash-singer trotted out this brilliant Oscar de la Renta A/W’11 prom dress made of blush silk organza with a gathered skirt and scalloped hem. WE LOVE (and how adorbz is her hubby?).

Our very own Cat Deeley was doing it for the Brits in an uber-feminine cornflower blue halter gown covered in lace and with a drop waist for a relaxed nightie-like effect. Oh, how dreamy is her hair?

Meanwhile, giving Kate a run for her elegant money, Jennifer Garner arrived in this navy blue gown of draped satin. We drool.

Uh oh, is someone trying to upstage the Duchess? Looks like Jennifer Lopez was doing her best by flashing her killer abs courtesy of this Emilio Pucci A/W ’11 gown, accessorized by a Lena Erziak clutch. Diva-licious!

As for Nicole Kidman, she looked entirely event-appropriate thanks to this custom-made Elie Saab gown adorned with sparkly beading. Doesn’t the ice blue hue look fab on her? We say yes.

And finally, we have Elizabeth Banks championing Versace once again. Her A/W’11 number with gold Medusa buttons and side pocket details provided a splash of originality when she rolled up in her swanky car.

So check out the gallery below for more glamazons and don’t forget to let us know which best-dresser gets your vote… prom dresses uk

Designers share what to wear to summer parties

The invitation to a summer party likely includes the time, place and date, but you might have to look between the lines to get a read on the dress code.
evening dresses
What you wear often depends on where you are — and the wardrobe of your friends and neighbors. Jeans probably worked for a Fourth of July community picnic in Maine, but you might have seen a crystal-covered kaftan among the outfits at fireworks in Miami.

You should take cues from the invitation itself (embossed paper invitation vs. animated email?), the occasion and the usual style of the host. Don't be afraid to ask, either.

We asked designers from three labels what to wear to parties in their summertime playgrounds. Here's what Tommy Hilfiger had to say about what to wear in Nantucket, Mass., Monique Lhuillier on Malibu, Calif., and Mark Badgley and James Mischka, of Badgley Mischka, on Lexington, Ky.

• Mark Badgley-James Mischka on Lexington: The ladies of Lexington have a busy calendar and they like to dress up for each and every event, according to Badgley and Mischka, who make their second home there in the summer.

"They like pretty, not edgy," Badgley said. "They like to feel like they look good."

A pool party would be a great time to take out a long, strapless patio dress, perhaps with just a little beading, which will add glamour to the look without pulling out extra costume jewelry. A lot of bling doesn't go over with this crowd for daytime or family events, Badgley said. Pearls, however, are a must-have, as are a few fine pieces of jewelry.

Other unwritten rules for parties include no jeans when you are a guest to someone's home. Don't wear all black, either.

"All black doesn't migrate to Lexington. It's so New York," he said.

But the women there love a good hat, Mischka said.

The Kentucky Derby in May kicks off the social summer season and that's when the most ornate hats come out, but it would be common to wear a floppy straw hat to outdoor, day-lit parties.
ball gowns
Because it's hot in Kentucky, people gravitate toward light fabrics and breezy shapes, not a suit — for men or women, Mischka said, but even if it's a barbecue with lots of red sauce and the other fixings, the guests will have a respectful, genteel look.

Serena Williams: Fashion Statement or Disaster

If Serena William’s has a fashion sense, it is definitely unorthodox. cheap cocktail dresses Her choice of apparel is so bold and offensive, one cannot decide whether to hate her for it, or admire her courage for setting a trend and wearing a tag that shouts ‘originality’. The 13-time Grand Slam champion returned to court earlier this year wearing a hot pink body suit, looking right out of a ‘cat woman’ comic named fashion blunder, the colour was completely contrasting with her warm skin tone. I can’t help thinking of getting a pair of sunglasses whenever I envision her.

Clearly her serves are just as punishing to the opponent as her choice of colours to the eyes. Yet it was all the rage, and her fans absolutely admired her audacious return. There was much chatter, in 2002 when she wore a black, Puma lycra cat-suit at the US Open, revealing most of her figure and powerful taut muscles, matched or rather unmatched with neon pink wrist and head band. Williams has a true art of bringing ‘pretty’ to athletic wear, unique to her style.

In June 2010 she played the French Open in a sky blue fitted tennis dress edged with box pleats, something one never sees at a tennis court. During the AEGON International in 2011, England, Serena wore a melon pink tennis dress layered at the bottom inviting a touch of feminism. In 2011, at the Centre Court, Wimbledon, Williams wore a white tennis dress, having a long V-neck, with two black stripes running along the edges of the V, giving it a formal athletic look, yet the skirt was pleated at the waist, giving the dress an overall effeminate appearance. While talking to the media in June, 2011, at Wimbledon, she wore a sporty purple T-shirt that read ‘Nike’ in pink, but it was a one sided off shouldered T-shirt, with her hair let down it added the right amount of femininity to change raw athletic power to diva.

Whether it is sports or formal wear, Serena with her bizarre sense of fashion has a way of getting herself noticed. This year in May at the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York City she wore a white feathery puffed princess dress, fitted around the bodice, flowing to the ground, together with a feathery hat. Perhaps someone needed to remind Serena Williams the Met Gala was not, in fact, her royal wedding! Yet the extravagance and feathered fun of the athlete's choice of dress was much appreciated.

Serena Williams is a long time fan of Burberry. At a pre-Wimbledon fete in London, 2011, Serena showed off her athletic curves in a striking custom-made Burberry shining emerald halter cocktail dress, contrasting with her skin tone. Then again, while attending the Burberry show at London Fashion Week, 2010, she wore a dull gold Burberry cocktail dress looking rather disheveled than tasteful this time.
Serena occasionally has managed to look extremely elegant, for example at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, 2011 in Hollywood. The tennis star looked ultra-elegant in a strapless coral evening gown with a sweet heart neckline highlighting it with a gold decorative collar necklace. Williams pulled it off again at the Burberry Beauty garden tea in 2010 in Beverly Hills by opting for a satin, deep purple skirt suit with ruffled detailing, another Burberry.

Serena Williams proved her interest and desire for fashion when she took her style from the tennis courts to the Home Shopping Network with the debut of her accessories and clothing collection, called Signature Statement. "One of my dreams has always been to share gorgeous gifts of fashion and luxury with the world. Off the court, my passion is fashion. Signature Statement is my own line of accessories and fashion, complete from jewellery to dresses."

Serena likes to top her apparel with obvious yet beautiful bangles, bracelets and rings. She arrived at the 19th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation's Oscar viewing party in a black dress and paired her chic look with a wrist full of diamond bracelets. And again at the at the Vanity Fair Oscar party with dull gold bangles and necklace to complement her coral coloured dress.

The American has always taken to the court with loud outfits. ball gowns Some are delightful in their colour, depicting life and sunshine others are a bit off putting for the tackiness. However, one cannot deny rather has to respect that she has a style of her own.

Meet the new Kate Moss… her little sister, Lottie

prom dresses Now the fashion world is starting to wonder if it has another star on its hands after the eye-catching appearance of Charlotte Moss as a bridesmaid at big sister Kate Moss's wedding.

She may only be 13, but Lottie, as she is known, is just a year younger than Moss was when she was discovered passing through JFK airport in New York by modelling agency boss Sarah Doukas.

Lottie looked every inch the English rose as she posed for pictures alongside 14 other bridesmaids at the marriage of her 37-year-old sibling to rock guitarist Jamie Hince. One top model agent told the Standard that Lottie could "definitely make a model".

And her mother revealed Lottie is already modelling vintage clothing in the family store in rural West Sussex - and has not ruled out a career in high fashion.

Kate's father Peter Moss, and his second wife, Lottie's mother Inger, own 17th-century Toll House shop in Lindfield, selling vintage clothes and homeware.

Two months ago the shop posted shots on its Facebook page of Lottie wearing a series of vintage prom dresses. Mrs Moss told the Standard that Lottie was in contact with Kate and added: "She's too young [to model professionally]. When she is old enough it will be her decision."

Model agent Carole White, who launched Naomi Campbell's career but famously turned down Kate Moss, said Lottie had the looks for a modelling career. She said: "Lottie looks beautiful and fresh - a very English rose look. Her mother is quite right to wait until she is 14 and has developed more but she has wonderful features and could definitely make a model. Generally you need the height. Kate is an exception to the rule because models need to be 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in. I think Lottie would make a lovely young model."

Ms White, who runs Premier Model Management and was called "mum" by Campbell, admitted in an earlier interview that she had rejected 5ft 7in Moss early in her career because she was too short, admitting that at the time she "just couldn't see it".

Moss was spotted returning from a holidayin the Bahamas with her father. At 16 she was launched into the modelling stratosphere with a shoot for Face magazine, which showed the young model half-naked on a beach.

The other bridesmaids included Sadie Frost and Jude Law's daughter - and Moss's goddaughter - Iris, Ella Richards, the granddaughter of Keith Richards, Elfie Reigate, the daughter of model Rosemary Ferguson and Barry Reigate, and Moss's eight-year-old daughter with journalist Jefferson Hack, Lila Grace. prom dresses uk

Paris Haute Couture: Giambattista Valli autumn/winter 2011

Giambattista Valli Haute
Couture autumn/winter 2011
The Roman-born designer who dresses Queen Rania, Penelope Cruz, Victoria Beckham, and is responsible for reviving the puffball skirt and glamorous ski bunny look with his reassuringly expensive Moncler Gamme Rouge padded jackets, conquered Paris much in the same way as his ancient Roman ancestors last night. prom dresses 2011

The Italian, who trained with fashion legends Emanuel Ungaro and Roberto Capucci, pulled off an astonishing haute couture debut showing 45 perfectly formed day and eveningwear garments with the ease of someone twice his age and experience.

Watched by a posse of gorgeous 'it' girls - Caroline Sieber, Astrid Munoz and Olivia Palermo - who crammed into the Galerie de la Madeleine, in the rue Boissy d'Anglas, wearing new season autumn/winter 2011 wool mini dresses despite the blistering heat, Valli treated his audience to a fashion feast of unadulterated glamour.

Many Valli signatures were here, including winter white caped jackets and Dolce Vita ballerina-length chiffon dresses in vintage shades of rich magenta and coral, translated into unmistakably couture fabrics with dazzling effect.

Although this designer has dabbled with demi and semi couture in the past, both in Fifties feel and textiles, the confidence and clarity with which Valli showed in this show will ensure him entry into the big brand superleague of designers in the very near future we feel.

His day and eveningwear contained so much workmanship much of it produced it's own 'sound-effects' audible over the Vivaldi-esque soundtrack playing in the long, thin chapel like venue.

Real coral and sequin-encrusted jackets jangled. Jet and crystal beads crunched. Tiny lily of the valley petal petals quivered just like real flowers.

As well as an evening section that harked back to an age when women dressed for formal evening functions which required long, gowns with matching cloaks, he offered power-suits brimming with his particular take on maximal minimalism. Lurex tweed was encrusted with crystal and jet and ostrich feathers and one stretch georgette crepe dress contained three prints in leopard, ocelot and jaguar, as well as being embroidered with pheasant features. prom dresses under 100

Following a rapturous finale, Anna Wintour, was rushed backstage to personally congratulate the newbie couture star. Quite right too.

'It is going to be awesome'

KENSINGTON - Lauren Ferguson has a new cream-coloured dress complete with intricate pink flowers and a pink sash pressed and ready to go. cheap cocktail dresses

She has a sparkling headband, bracelet and ring and, of course, new pink shoes.
With her curtsey rehearsed the Kensington girl, pretty as a princess herself, is ready to meet the royal couple.

The eight-year-old will be the last official flower bearer to present a bouquet to the Duchess of Cambridge before the royal couple departs P.E.I. this evening.
The little girl who adores fictional princesses, especially Cinderella, is excited to meet a real-life princess.
"It is going to be awesome," she said.
When Lauren, the daughter of Lisa and Blair Ferguson, entered a poster contest she had no idea she would be selected to be an official flower bearers.

The only student in her Grade 3 class to enter, she drew an elaborate scene that included a lobster, lobster trap, fishing boat, Confederation Bridge, Cow's Ice Cream and, of course, "Anne of Green Gables."
A week ago the call came from the premier's office that Lauren, the youngest of the Ferguson clan, would see the world's most famous newlyweds up close.

Lauren knew little about the Royal Family before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding, which she and her mother watched.
"I liked it because she was really pretty. I liked her wedding dress and all the ladies with their hats and fancy dresses on."

Lauren's name was randomly drawn from the poster contest entries. Her poster was on display this morning at Province House and viewed by the Duke and Duchess during their tour of the historic landmark.
Lauren will be on the tarmac at Summerside's airport where she will give the Duchess of Cambridge a bouquet before she board's the airplane.
"She has to wait for the princess to shake her hand first, but it is fairly low-key," said mom Lisa.

Lauren plans on giving the couple a curtsey after presenting the bouquet.
"It's not hard to do," said the little girl who showed off her perfect curtsey. "I'll probably say this to Kate, that she's really, really pretty."
Lauren will be nervous, but knows she's doing something very few get to do.

"Maddy, my friend, said she was so jealous."
Lisa said today is a day she and her family will never forget.
"It is something that she will remember forever and tell her kids and grandkids," said the mother. "Maybe when another princess or king or queen arrives she'll remember this day and pass that along." ball gowns
